ANKARA: A Turkish court has annulled the opposition CHP leadership election.
A Turkish court has annulled the opposition CHP leadership election and dismissed opposition leader Ozgur Ozal.
The court ordered former leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu to be re-elected as party leader.
According to media reports, opposition leader Ozgur Ozal has been charged with election irregularities and alleged vote buying.
In response to the court's ruling, Turkish opposition leader Ozgur Ozal said that the party had appealed to the Supreme Court of Appeal and that the ruling was expected to be overturned by the highest court.
The Turkish opposition leader said that neither the party nor the country would succumb to this coup.
According to British media, human rights organizations described the court's action as political revenge.
