Paul Biya, the 92-year-old president of the African country of Cameroon, has entered the election race for an eighth consecutive term.

Paul Biya, Cameroon's second president since independence from France in 1960, has been in power since 1982 and is currently the world's oldest head of state.

The Cameroonian president removed presidential term limits in 2008 through constitutional changes and controversially won in 2018 with 71% of the vote.

Several opposition leaders also ran against Paul Biya in the October 12, 2025 election, but the election results are likely to be announced by October 26.

If Cameroon's 92-year-old president is re-elected for another 7-year term, he will be 99 years old at the end of his term.
