Europe's most active volcano, Mount Etna, has awakened again.

According to international media, Mount Etna—located on the Italian island of Sicily—is Europe's most active volcano.

Media reports state that the volcano erupted overnight, spewing bright orange lava that illuminated the night sky—a spectacle visible from kilometers away.

Volcanic activity at Mount Etna occurs frequently; it usually does not disrupt daily life, nor does it pose a threat to the local population.

However, scientists report that this activity has recently increased, with frequent and powerful eruptions taking place.

Furthermore, the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology—the agency monitoring the volcano—reported that lava has begun flowing on the eastern side of Mount Etna, prompting a red alert.

According to media reports, flight operations at Catania Airport have also been suspended due to dense ash clouds following the eruption.
