Former Tamil actor Joseph Vijay, who became a superstar and then a politician, became the new Chief Minister of the state in the state elections held in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

Vijay was sworn in as the 13th Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on Sunday during a ceremony held at the Nehru Stadium in Chennai.

It should be noted that Joseph Vijay bid farewell to the film world in February 2024 by announcing the formation of his party Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK).

His new 27-month-old party surprised everyone by winning a landslide victory in its first election.

In the state elections, Vijay's 'TVK' party emerged as the single largest party, winning 108 seats.

They needed 118 seats for a majority in the 234-member House, which they got with the help of allies, after which they became Prime Minister today, 27 months after officially joining politics.

According to Indian media, after taking the oath, he took three important decisions, including 200 units of free electricity for domestic consumers, a special force and helpline for women's safety, and an integrated anti-drug system.

In his speech, Vijay said that now that he has come to power, no one should think that he will do anything arbitrary. He promised transparent governance and said that his government will not loot public money or make false promises.

He said that his government will be based on true secularism and social justice and that he represents Hindus, Muslims and Christians.

He described himself as a son and brother of the people and said that he has reached this point after going through poverty and hardship, it is a new beginning and a new era of social justice has begun.
