Venezuela's interim president, Rodríguez, states that the death toll from the earthquakes has reached 2,600.
According to President Rodríguez, almost all businesses in the state of La Guaira have been destroyed, and 189 buildings have been razed to the ground by the earthquakes.
She stated that search-and-rescue operations are continuing, relief efforts are not yet complete, and a $200 million reconstruction initiative is being launched in partnership with the IMF.
According to Venezuela's interim president, Rodriguez, the IMF and the World Bank have offered financial aid and loans; the funds made available by the IMF will be used for housing reconstruction.
It is worth noting that the number of people injured in the earthquake in Venezuela has reached 11,000, while more than 43,000 people are reported missing. According to the United Nations, the total number of people affected by the earthquake could reach 6.8 million.
