North Korea has changed its constitution so that if the country's leader Kim Jong-un is killed by a foreign enemy, the military will be forced to launch a nuclear counterattack on the enemy.

According to the British newspaper, this change was made after the martyrdom of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and his closest advisers in joint attacks by the United States and Israel.

This constitutional change was approved during the first session of the 15th Supreme People's Assembly, which began on March 22 in Pyongyang.

According to the newspaper, South Korea's National Intelligence Service (NIS) briefed senior officials on the amendment during a briefing on Thursday.

According to the NIS, Kim Jong-un is the head of North Korea's nuclear forces, but the new amendment also outlines procedures for what the military should do if he is killed.

According to the revised Article 3 of North Korea's constitution, "If attacks by enemy forces threaten the command and control system of the state's nuclear forces, a nuclear strike will be automatically and immediately launched."
