Chinese President Xi Jinping said that the stability of China-Russia relations is especially "valuable" in the current chaotic international scenario.

According to the US news agency Associated Press, President Xi said during a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Beijing on Wednesday that the strength of the friendship treaty between the two countries and its exemplary significance become even more evident in such circumstances.

He stressed that the foreign ministries of the two countries should fully implement the consensus reached between him and Russian President Vladimir Putin, and further strengthen strategic communication and close diplomatic coordination.

President Xi called for the comprehensive strategic partnership between Beijing and Moscow to be "higher, more sustainable and broader."

Relations between China and Russia have deepened in recent years, especially after Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022. During Putin's visit to China in September, the two leaders addressed each other as "old friends" and "dear friends."

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in Beijing on Tuesday for a two-day visit at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi.
