An Afghan national has been arrested in Virginia on charges of supporting ISIS.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested Afghan national John Shah Safi a day earlier in Waynesboro, Virginia.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, the suspect delivered weapons to his father, an ISIS leader, in Afghanistan.
The suspect, John Shah Safi, arrived in the United States in 2021 under the Biden administration's "Welcome to the Ally" program.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, Safi applied for Temporary Protected Status after entering the United States, which was later revoked.
Secretary of the Interior Kristi Naom criticized the policies of the previous administration, saying the Biden administration allowed people to enter the United States without proper screening.
It is worth noting that two Afghan citizens have previously been arrested: Rahmanullah Laknawal, who was arrested after shooting members of the National Guard in Washington.
A few days after the incident in Washington, Mohammad Daoud Alokzai was arrested in Fort Worth, Texas, on charges of making a bomb threat.
The two Afghans entered the United States as part of Operation Welcome Ally.
