Rabat: A group of young people leading large-scale public protests in Morocco have called for the government to be dismissed.
According to a foreign news agency, the demand came at a time when three people have been killed and nearly 300 injured during the six-day wave of protests.
The group leading the protests, called Generation Z 212, also called for the immediate release of all those arrested.
The wave of protests began last month after reports of the deaths of eight pregnant women in a public hospital in Agadir sparked public outrage.
Protesters say the government should focus on health and education instead of organizing large infrastructure projects and sporting events.
Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhnouch said in his first public speech since the protests began that the government was ready to negotiate on the protesters' demands.
He described the events of Wednesday evening, in which three people were killed, as "tragic."
The Moroccan Interior Ministry said the men died during an attempted attack on a local police station.
According to the ministry, more than 400 people have been arrested so far, while around 300 people have been injured, mainly security personnel, while more than 80 public and private buildings and hundreds of vehicles have been damaged.
Protesters raised slogans calling for an end to corruption, freedom, dignity and social justice.
The group, called "Generation Z 212", said in their statements that they love the country and King Mohammed VI, but oppose certain political parties.
