The suspect in the Manchester synagogue car attack has been identified.

A man drove a car into pedestrians outside a synagogue in Manchester, United Kingdom, and stabbed a security guard, killing at least two people. 

According to Reuters, the incident occurred on the Jewish holiest day, Yom Kippur, after which the suspected attacker was shot dead.

According to a foreign news agency, the suspect was identified as 35-year-old Jihad al-Shami, a British citizen of Syrian origin. 

A video shared on social media and verified by Reuters shows police shooting a man inside the synagogue, while another man lies on the ground in a pool of blood.

According to police, three people, including the attacker, were killed and three others were injured in the incident, all of whom are in critical condition.

Police described the attack as a terrorist incident.
