The administration of US President Donald Trump has frozen $26 billion in funds allocated to Democratic-majority states.

The largest part of the frozen funds is $18 billion allocated for New York infrastructure projects.

Additionally, $8 billion in green energy projects underway in 16 Democratic-majority states, including California and Illinois, have been frozen.

The Trump administration says these funds fall under the category of unnecessary spending during the lockdown.Democrats have called the move a political vendetta.

According to Democratic leaders, Trump is undermining the country's important environmental and urban development projects simply because of political opposition.

Political experts say the decision could delay important public transportation projects in major cities like New York, while the suspension of green energy projects would also affect environmental goals and thousands of jobs.

It should be remembered that the government has been shut down due to the failure to pass a spending bill in the United States, and several departments, including the space agency NASA, have been closed.

According to reports, 750,000 federal employees have been furloughed, and Capitol Hill and the Library of Congress have also been closed to visitors.
