The passport of these islands offers visa-free access to over 150 countries, including the United Kingdom and Europe's Schengen countries.

It's not just the beautiful beaches, relaxed lifestyle or tourism that are now attracting foreigners to the beautiful islands of the Eastern Caribbean, but now the opportunity to buy property on these islands and obtain citizenship is also attracting buyers.

According to the British Broadcasting Corporation, five countries in the region, including Antigua and Barbuda, the Dominican Republic, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis and Saint Lucia, offer schemes under which citizenship can be obtained for an investment of US$200,000.

Therefore, by buying a house on these islands, one can also obtain a passport here, which offers visa-free access to more than 150 countries, including the United Kingdom and Europe's Schengen countries.

The interest of American citizens in these schemes is also growing, the main reason for this being political and social uncertainty in America.

According to a luxury real estate agent in Antigua, more than 70 percent of buyers who buy property here are currently seeking citizenship here, and the majority of them are Americans.

Another attraction of these programs is that investors in these countries are not subject to capital gains tax, inheritance tax or, in some cases, income tax, and buyers can also retain their old citizenship.

Buying a house is not the only way to obtain citizenship, as most countries also grant citizenship based on a one-time financial contribution to national development funds. Another way in Antigua is for investors to obtain citizenship by donating $260,000 to the University of the West Indies.
