The National Electricity Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has imposed a fine of R10 million on the National Grid Company for violating safety rules and norms.
According to NEPRA officials, a show cause notice has been issued to the National Grid Company for non-completion of works at the Jhampir grid substation, including implementation of safety rules and norms.
According to the authorities, the company was also given the opportunity for a hearing, but the company did not follow the grid and safety codes.
NEPRA has ordered the company to complete all work on Jhampir-II and submit the certificate, while further penalties will be imposed if the company fails to follow the instructions.
Nepra has ordered the National Grid Company to submit the fine within a month.
