Washington: The Trump administration has decided to limit the duration of visas in several categories.
According to foreign media reports, the Trump administration has taken a step in the name of visa abuse and control of foreigners, proposing to limit the duration of visas for foreign students and journalists.
Since 1978, foreign students with F visas have been allowed to stay indefinitely.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, it would harm American citizens if students and others were to stay indefinitely. If the law is passed, the stay of foreign students would be limited to the length of their program of study.
If the law is passed, foreign students would not be able to stay in the United States for more than 4 years, while representatives of foreign media would initially be able to stay for 240 days.
However, the stay of foreign media representatives can be extended by 240 days or on duty. Foreign students and media representatives will be required to undergo regular screening.
It should be noted that President Trump proposed this visa law in 2020, while the Biden administration rejected the visa law proposed during the Trump era.
